Bird Seed

Lets look after our friends this winter.
Strictly for the Birds
Not for human consumption

I have made this for the last several years. It's intended for feeding the
Shut-ins best friends. During the winter months...many shut-ins and
Countless others derive great pleasure from having these lovely little
Creatures. If you have a tree near your window or a discarded Xmas tree
Or even a small branch may be propped up beside the window...

For the bird feeder
Cut the top and bottom out of any number of soup cans
Cut a   stick for each can. So it will protrude 2 inches out of
 End of the can. When laid into can.
Pass a cord through the can. And tie ends. To form a loop with
Several inches above the can. For the can to hang by.

Ingredients
~~~~~~~~~~
1 cup sugar
1-cup water
1 cup melted fat.Tallow.or drippings
1-cup birdseed
1-cup breadcrumbs
3 cups cornmeal
Directions
~~~~~~~~

Boil sugar and water for 5 minutes. Add melted fat....
Stir in dry ingredients
Until mixture becomes thick...
Pour into cans when laid on side, with stick at the bottom. for a perch and the
Cord at the top to hang...
Hang cans in trees....
A shallow tray filled with sunflower seeds... attached to a window sill will also
Work.... brings the birds nearer to your window...
Enjoy your winter company...
