When you are doing a large batch of soups or stews for your freezer, it
sometimes seems like it takes forever to cool down, which you need to do before
you put them in the freezer. Especially if it is one of your big cooking days,
chances are pretty good you don't want to have when your big pots just sitting
around cooling a pot of stew when you could be using if your next recipe. Here
is a super quick and easy way to quickly chill your soups and stews so you can
get them into your freezer quicker.
Simply take any clean plastic water bottle and fill in about three quarters of
the way with water, then pop it into the freezer. When you are ready to cool
down your pot of soup, grab the water bottle and use it to stir your soup. The
chill of the ice and the bottle will rapidly cool your soup without having to
wait around.
When you are done simply wash off the outside well, then pop it back into the
freezer for the next time you need to quickly chill your stew.
This also works for other liqiud and semi-liquid foods such as chili and
spaghetti sauce.
