Greetings ladies of WOSIB and welcome to the new and (hopefully) improved Signatures of Distinction Garden! Having recently made the transition from fun group to Garden, despite it’s bumpy ride, SOD re-opened in August with plenty of activities for its members!

Before re-opening I collared two very competent members and taggers as my helpers. Dusty as Assistant Head and Marcella as Assistant. Though both have time constraints throughout the week, I am honoured to have them on my Staff to help run SOD. They are both a wonderful help.

This month saw us begin with the theme of “Friendship”, as a tribute to the one we all share, and it was a theme which inspired much creativity amongst members. We started with a simple Siggy Swap, where we Tagged or Snagged Tags for other members of the Garden, and upon reopening saw members flock to the gates of SOD and begin swapping and sharing with one another – included in the theme of Friendship. Some wonderful creations were to be seen

Halfway through the month I decided to start a little more challenging game – the Tube N’ Tag Pass – in which both Taggers and Snaggers can take part. Members respond to play, indicating whether they are a Tagger or Snagger. I ended up with most Taggers, but some of them generously offered to snag if short on those players. I think some snaggers weren’t too sure how to play, so they just sat back and watched. Participants relished in the game as the Snaggers sent a tube to their Tagger, who then made a tag from that tube for them. The Snagger comes away with a wonderful taggie! And I have to say the players who had the most fun out of this game, would be my Assistant Head Dusty and her Tagger Acinny. No sooner had Acinny finished one tag for her, Dusty sent in another tube. They must have Passed about 6 or 7 times. LOL I hope others will get as much as pleasure out of these games in future, and Snaggers won’t be afraid to join in now that they know how the game is played.

We had five members take part in the Monthly Offers with their Tags for request. Those who requested from these taggers should have received their tags by now. The response was encouraging for our first month back, and we look forward to bringing you more Offers in the coming months. As you know WOSIB endeavoured to become copyright compliant during August, which threw a cat amongst the pigeons a little, and this is a rule which greatly impacts SOD and what is shared there. It’s not an easy task, and I’ve placed a list of Artists Dos and Don’ts as a reference for members as to who is safe to use and who is not. We’re still learning what’s what, as I’m sure the rest of WOSIB is, but we’ll get there in the end.

With the re-opening of the Garden I also introduced a new feature – Member of the Month. We have always had Member of the Week, which is a fun activity in SOD where the previous weeks’ MOTW chooses the next MOTW, and that person is showered with gifts in tags for the next week. At the end of the week, it begins again and so on. This month the introduction of the Member of the Month is based on the level of activity and participation in the Garden.
