Staff Member of the Month
Our October Staff Member of the Month is one that we agree is definately most deserving. She is a quiet, but hard working member and garden head, always willing to step up and take on more responsibilities, and never complains about anything given to her. Never has come a time when she has turned down anything that is sent her way. She's taken on the responsibility of her garden with quiet determination, and continues to keep it going with no fuss. If we were have named this award the "Get 'er Dun" award, her name would be first in our minds!!! LOL!!
This month's Staff Member of the Month is JILL H!!! Thank you so much Jill for your ever patience and taking on whatever is sent your way!!!!
Hugs,

CELEBRATORS
THE COTM for September.....
This is tough decision this month! The pagemakers pulled together at the end of September to recover a mishap with pages and guestbook's. All the gifter/signers resigning books for this month they had already signed. Everyone pulled together for the women getting these pages. Last month I gave the COTM to all members, a thank you for all they do. This month I'm stumped! All deserve it this month! Taken days thinking about it. I've decided there will be no guestbook count for the pages /guestbook's we lost and had to recover and resign. It's the only way to thank you all for all the double work.
The COTM award, we have one person to thank for her work that notified us immediately of another situation with guestbook's. She works daily on being sure what we send is nice, pretty and correct. Her time spent double and rechecking the books for graphic's not showing up, double entries is the only reason for recovery for October books. This months COTM goes to KuntrySue.
Thank you for all you do KSue!
CREATORS
We are pleased to announce that our Creator of the Month of October is Gardenfairy Ann.
Ann is a wonderful lady and she has grown as a creator and her designs are just awesome. It’s a pleasure and an honor to have her in Creators Garden. Visit our Creator of the Month page here:
CRITTERS
Congratulations to our Critter Keeper of the Month....Daisy!
Daisy is one of those wonder people who truely cares about what happens, not just to
her own animals, but also the progeny of those animals. With so many irresponsible animal
breeders out there, it is wonderful to know a woman who cares more for the futures of her
babies then for the amount of money she can make. Sadly, there aren't that many people out
there who would turn down a potential owner when finding out that they have been known to
take animals to the pound in the past...but that's just what our Daisy did! For her
integrity and her love of animals, she is our member of the month this month!

LITERARY
This month we have two Spotlight Authors of the Month for the Literary Garden. One is a new member who jumped right in and participated from the get go. The other is a long time member, now on staff, whose efforts often go unrewarded and unrecognised by all she does behind the scenes. Below are the Spotlight question and answers from each member.

1. What is your favorite Literary Garden Nook and why? Poetry – it is the very essence of my being.
2. What do you like best about being a member of the Garden? Writing and sharing with those of similar interest.
3. Do you believe "the pen is mightier than the sword?" Why? Oh yes, Indeed I do. The pen allows for thought and consideration and a sharing of opinion.
4. If you had the chance to speak on international television and your speech had to be about you, what would you tell the world? To love each other a little more, to care for the children of the world, and to be a little more forgiving.
5. Do you have any pets? Yes – one very aloof black and white cat named Chloe
6. When life gets you down, who can make you laugh? I often laugh at myself.
7. Do you collect anything? If so, care to share? I have a huge collection of books but am trying to
declutter” so am not collecting other things.
8. Can you tell us one thing about yourself that we might find surprising? I could, but I probably shouldn’t,
9. What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day? Splash in puddles, walk in the rain, read a good book. I love the rain – but sadly here in Australia we are not seeing very much of it lately.
10. Who or what inspires you to write? Life, emotions, pain, love – anything really.

1. What is your favorite Literary Garden Nook and why?
I love them all but if I had to choose just one, I guess it would be the poetry one. I like to write poetry more than anything. The fiction and non-fiction nooks would both tie for second place.
2. What do you like best about being a member of the Garden?
I love the members! All of them are so creative and very talented! I love also that we all have a chance to release our creative juices with the various writing challenges we are given each month and it is interesting to see the different views and aspects each member contributes, on all the subjects we write about.
3. Do you believe "the pen is mightier than the sword?" Why?
Yes! With a pen you can create powerful messages to share with others. They say words cut deeper than a knife. I believe that to be true.
4. If you had the chance to speak on international television and your speech had to be about you, what would you tell the world?
I guess I would speak about domestic violence awareness, due to this is something that I care deeply about and have experienced myself and it affects every woman in every country.
5. Do you have any pets?
I have two kittens who are 6 months old. I got them from a lady who was giving them away at a flea market. They had been farm cats. I got them when they were 6 weeks old. They are both females. One is named Oreo, due to she is black and white like the Oreo cookie, and the fact she is a mischief-maker. The other one is named April, due to she was born in April, plus she just looks and acts more prissy than Oreo, so needed a more feminine name. April is a white/grey tabby mix. They are not from same litter but act like sisters and great playmates.
6. When life gets you down, who can make you laugh?
Myself! I try to find happiness, humour and joy each day. Sometimes I feel like Lucille Ball (from I Love Lucy show). She was always doing something goofy and I find I am a lot like her! I have learned to keep a sense of humour and find humour in many things. I have had a rough past and the older I get, I try not to take life so seriously. I also try to watch something on the television or a movie that is humorous, so that I can laugh out loud. Laughter is like medicine to your soul. Very uplifting.
7. Do you collect anything? If so, care to share?
Besides dust, I collect amethyst jewelry and anything with amethyst in it, as it is my birthstone. I also love to collect stuffed teddy bears, and anything with butterflies and sunflowers on it. I am also partial to fairies, so have a assortment of those as well (ceramic ones mainly). I also collect ballerina music jewelry boxes. I am also partial to Native American things, as I am part Cherokee.
8. Can you tell us one thing about yourself that we might find surprising?
I used to be a truck driver! I drove coast to coast in one of those big 18 wheelers. I drove solo and also as a team, so I logged my share of miles! I have been to every state due to this, except Hawaii and Alaska. I have been to Mexico and Canada as well.
9. What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
Read, or write mainly! Author wise I love Norma Klein and Shirley MacClaine. Book wise, I mainly read true life, fiction that deals with women’s lives, horror or self help type. Either write poetry, letters, short stories, or work on one of my three novels that I am in the process of writing. I would like to get them published one day as well as a children’s book that I have written. I also spend more time than I care to admit working on my websites. I also can be found playing a computer game called Roller Coaster Tycoon! I am obsessed with that game! That or Spider Solitaire! Otherwise, you will find me napping!
10. Who or what inspires you to write?
Life inspires me to write. Mainly my own. My grandmother is the one who first encouraged me to write and gave me my love for reading books. Her name was Alder Flora, hence the name I use in WOSIB...Alderwind! She was like a breath of fresh air to me, so I pay tribute to her with the name I chose.
