~~*~~ Happy Holiday Season ~~*~~

WOW!! Can’t believe how fast this year has gone by! Celebrators sends wishes to all for a Happy and safe Holiday Season. Most all gardens will break now for Holiday season till New Year. Celebrators will not be on break. If you have upcoming Birthday or Anniversary in December, drop me a note blutriste@earthlink.net. I sent the usual scout to all, with email problems the past months with celaps@wosib.org - seems many responses have not been reaching us. To be sure you don’t get missed, drop me a note so I can make double sure you get pages.

Meet Your Celebrator

We’d like you to meet and get to know
Tommie

What is your name/WOSIB name and location? Tommie (my real name - named after my grandmothers best friend (also female)). I just use my real name as my screen name because I'm not very creative when it comes to screen names like the rest of my WOSIB sisters.

I live in Texas but have lived in Arizona, Oklahoma and Hawaii (father was in civil service back then). I've been in Texas since 1981 so I feel as thought I was born here. A true Texas at heart anyway.

What other WOSIB Gardens do you belong to? Just Celebrators

Tell us about your other hobbies (not WOSIB related) Playing with and taking care of my Grandchildren,

Volunteering & Mentoring at my grandchildren's elementary school, hoping to make a difference in a child's life
PTA: Historian this year, last year I was in charge of their Fun Night - loads of fun
Sewing, Crafting, Cross Stitch, playing and crafting with Polymer Clay
Genealogy - digging in the dirt and digging up bones!

What are your favorites? Food? Movies? Flowers? Foods: Cottage Cheese, Cheese, Choc, Cake, Pies, Peanut Butter and of course Candy - the big ole choc bars like Snickers, Reese cups, Dark Choc. I like salty foods like popcorn with my choc. I love Prime Rib and baked potatoes if I have to eat something other than sweets. Movies: I love to watch "old" (1940's-1960's) movies, mostly romantic and comedy, but will sit through a crying sweet sad movie with a box of tissues, which is usually a must to have very near. I also like those old Roman Empire movies.

Flowers: Daisy have been my long time favorite, but I like most flowers that are brightly colored, just don't have a green thumb to grow anything so they must be bought!

Tell us why you wanted to be in the Celebrators garden and how long you've been in the group? I feel that it is very important to give others a bright light in a day that may not be so bright. I feel it is also important to acknowledge a persons birthday, anniversary, birth of a child, and basically just let them know they are being thought of. If I can make a difference, a positive impact, in one persons life each day I feel I have done a good thing. It's not just for them, but for myself as well. It feels wonderful to help others and to let them know they are thought of, that they are important to this world, to me as well as to others.

How long have I been with WOSIB??? Well lets see I joined WOSIB in 2001 (I think) and started signing guestbooks, sending emails and cards, then Vick suggested to me to join the Celebrators Garden just a month or so back, I thought what the heck, so here I am. I can say that I am very happy that I have done so. I have met so many wonderful WOSIB Sisters, who are fun loving and truely care about their other sisters. Most, I have found, are choclate lovers as well.

Tell us about something that is going on in your life right now that has you so excited? My husband, just yesterday, surprised me with a brand new (2007) Crimson Red Pontiac G6 GT 2 door hard top convertible. I had been driving a Van and feeling very old (I'm only 51). In my younger days I drove a Z28 Rag top that I absolutely loved, felt wonderful to be seen in let alone driving it with the top down. Now, again am feeling very wonderful, confident and younger (but still know better - whatever that means) when I get into my new G6. Does wonders for my self esteem. My grandchildren even love it (girl 8 and boy 4). Of course the down size is I can't do a lot of shopping, compared to the amount of shopping bags a van will hold to my new red car.........but hey, who says I can't make lots of trips to the store......Right??? ;o)
