Garden Members of The Month
By Bonnie

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE GARDEN MEMBER OF THE MONTH!!

STAFF MEMBER
Our Staff Member of the Month is one that nearly everyone knows. She's a hard worker, dedicated to her duties, and those who work with her are so grateful to have her on their team. Here's what one of her team mates have to say about her:

"She's been here almost 7 years.... She spends 90% of her time doing wosib things. She's Organizational Staff, LOA Manager, Head of Quilters, Celebrator PageManager, stays up late every night to send out those pages. She's always there for all of us.... There are some of us old timers here.... NONE of us have put in the time and work for almost 7 years like KSUE...."

Idgie and I agree!!! We're so lucky to have her in our Organization Staff and gardens. Please join me in congratulating Kuntry Sue as our May 2007 Staff Member of the Month!!!

P.S. She is also Staff Spotlight of the Month for May!

1.. What is your favorite Literary Garden Nook and why? Wow, that's a tough one, before I joined the Literary Garden I would most likely have said the Poetry Nook because I love to write poetry, but since I've been here I have found a new love in writing in the Fiction Nook, so for the moment I guess I would have to say the Fiction Nook. It's a place where you can delve deep inside and pull out stuff that when it's put together you can say, "wow, that's cool ... and it's not even true!" Let's me go places in my mind is what I like.

2.. What do you like best about being a member of the Garden? The other members! Being here in the garden makes me feel like it's okay that I don't have the time to socialize outside my home much, or that I don't have friends calling me and asking me out for coffee and a chat ... because I have tons of friends here and not a one of them requires anything more of me other than "myself" and those are the kind of friends I like to have. Here I get the opportunity to share what's inside of me, who I am and to feel what I say means something.

3.. Do you believe "the pen is mightier than the sword?" Why? Yes I do ... why? Ummm, can't think of a thing at the moment that would suffice for an answer to that.

4.. If you had the chance to speak on international television and your speech had to be about you, what would you tell the world? Humm, not sure what I'd say, maybe this. "First, let me tell you something you all need to know! I am related to you, or at least thousands of you I am anyway and if that bothers you, well, then maybe you need to stop and take a look at your lives and how you treat other people because of the way they look. Just because we may not all have the same color as you, doesn't mean we aren't first cousins and all ... because we probably are! We are a people who have been given the gift of knowing what choices are good, and what choices are bad, and when you know it is wrong to treat people bad then you need to dig down deep and stop worrying about what others will say if you don't follow their lead ... be a stand-up person and be kind and fair to everyone.

5.. Do you have any pets? Yes I do, I have a cat named Violet.

6.. When life gets you down, who can make you laugh? My husband can and does, always has.

7.. Do you collect anything? If so, care to share? I collect Eagles, nick-nacks of them, pictures, ceramics, etc. I love eagles. I also collect nostalgic miniature shoes & boots, the old fashion kind. I love the era of times behind me.

8.. Can you tell us one thing about yourself that we might find surprising? I was chosen to be the Solo Violest when I graduated the 9th grade and was headed to high school. I had played Violin since I was about 6 years old and when we were in our last few days of school, Mr. Kirkland, our music teacher, asked me if I would like to be the Solo Violist with the Orchestra in High School. I was a very shy person in school, didn't have the coolest clothes and was lacking in some serious self confidence in my teenage years ... and so I said "no." Not because I didn't want to, but because at the moment he asked me, all I could think of, or actually visualize, was me having to be up on that stage all by myself as the only Violest and that was about as terrifying as it gets for someone like me. If they asked me today, I would say yes ... and I'd play for whoever with the confidence of a natural born player. (My brother is thinking of letting me use his son's Violin so I can try my hand it again and see if what I had is still there.)

9.. What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day? I like to sit and draw. I used to like to sit and work on my genealogy, but I've found that drawing helps soothe me inside from all my health problems.

10.. Who or what inspires you to write? Life inspires me to write.
