*HOUSEHOLD TIPS*
Broken Glass: To pick up small slivers of broken glass from a hard surface, use a slice of bread. Place the bread on the broken glass slivers and press down gently. The glass will stick to the piece of bread and not into your fingers.
Computer: To easily clean your computer and keyboard use baby wipes. You will be amazed at how much dirt they actually pick up.
Permanent Marker Stains: For any permanent marker stain use a pencil eraser, dry erase marker, or hairspray. This really works and it comes off in a sinch!
Sink Rust Stains: Rust rings in your sinks can be removed with a little baking soda. Just massage it into the stain and rinse.
TV Screen: Use cling-free dryer sheet to clean your television and computer screens. Simply lightly moisten them and wipe-off the screen.
Water Marks on Wood Furniture: To remove watermarks from wood furniture. Mix approximately one half teaspoon of olive oil and ashes from a couple of cigarettes and make it into a paste. Then rub the paste on the stained area. Then simply wipe clean.
Windows: Warm soapy water applied with a sponge or rag and then use a squeegee to take it off. This method actually repells dirt and grime from all your windows, storm doors and patio doors. This method is fast and easy, I can do the entire house indoors and out in half the time it used to take me to do just the outside. Wiping glass with paper towels or newspaper creates static and that attracts the dust and dirt to glass so you have to clean them more often.
Wipe the inside of your windows down with shaving cream. It will keep them from fogging up.
This the best all-purpose household cleaner I've ever tried! I found it on the back of a bottle of ammonia years ago. My friends now call it Suzanne's cleaning solution
1 cup ammonia
1/2 cup distilled vinegar
1/4 cup baking soda
mixed into 1 gallon warm to hot water

Another Use For Cookie Cutters
Use foil wrap around cookie cutter, leaving top
open. If the cookie cutter could go in the oven you
could let your children melt crayons in it and have
one big crayon with many colors. Place cookie
cutter on a cookie sheet lined in tin foil and put
broken crayons inside a cookie cutter. Put in 350
degree oven and continue to watch until all the
crayons have melted into one. Use assorted colors
but do NOT mix once the wax starts to melt or
you?ll get an ugly color. Remove from oven
and let cool.
ChapStick? Lip Balm Tips
Prevent car battery corrosion.
Smear ChapStick on clean car battery terminals.
Lubricate a zipper.
Rub ChapStick along the teeth of the zipper to
make it zip smoothly.
Moisturize skin.
Rubbing ChapStick on your face protects the
skin from windburn while snow skiing.
Remove a ring stuck on a finger.
Coat finger with ChapStick and slide the ring off.
Lubricate nails and screws.
Nails and screws rubbed with ChapStick will
go into wood more easily.
Shine leather shoes.
In a pinch, rub ChapStick over the leather and
buff with a dry, clean cloth.
Lubricate furniture drawers and windows.
Rub ChapStick on the casters of drawers and
windows so they slide open and shut easily.
Prevent hair coloring from dying your skin.
Rub ChapStick along your hairline before
coloring your hair.
Clean Your Home With Alka Seltzer!
Clean a toilet. Drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets,
wait twenty minutes, brush and flush. The citric acid
and effervescent action clean vitreous china.
Clean a vase. To remove a stain from the bottom
of a glass vase or cruet, fill with water and drop in two
Alka-Seltzer tablets.
Polish jewelry. Drop two Alka-Seltzer tablets into a
glass of water and immerse the jewelry for two minutes.
Unclog a drain. Clear the sink drain by dropping three
Alka-Seltzer tablets down the drain followed by a cup
of Heinz White Vinegar. Wait a few minutes, then run
the hot water.
*SAVINGS OF THE SEASON*
Grocery and Household Cost Cutting Tips
1. Transfer small amounts (sour cream, yogurt,
etc.) to an appropriate size container. They last
much longer.
2. Use rubber spatulas to clean out jars, bottles,
bowls, etc.
3. Grate your own cheese. It takes seconds!
4. Freeze scouring pads. They last much longer.
*TIP OF THE MONTH*
Are the kids/grandkids bored? Give them some downy fabric softener sheets, let them put them on the bottoms of their shoes or on their hands and they can slide around the carpet. It makes your house smell good and it helps the carpet to repel spills. And the kids are actually doing a house cleaning type chore and they don't even realize it...shhhhh...what they don't know won't hurt them.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY !
