Literary Garden Report for February

Hi Ladies,
As Assistant Head in our Literary Garden it is my turn to report on behalf of our Ladies. We have had new members, some leave and some go on Leave of Absence, just part of the normal comings and goings that “real life” brings our way, but we have had great submissions from our members and they are available for you to read on the Literary Page of WOSIB site.

http://www.wosib.org/literary/

All of our Nooks received submissions and the Fiction and Poetry winners are as follows:

FICTION
Our topic for February was:
The theme for February was "You live with your boyfriend of two years, and it has all been wonderful but recently you have noticed changes in his attitude - he is careless with his words and actions, late home, unreliable at his job and you are suspecting another woman in his life. He comes home and you have fallen from a ladder doing a job he was supposed to do..."

Congratulations to our February winners!

A special thank you to all who took the time to read the stories and send in their votes.

FIRST PLACE
The Dream that Never Was – Christina

SECOND PLACE
The Valentine Murder Attempt – Selena

THIRD PLACE
One fall and One Night - Tracy

Congratulations Girls – I am sure everyone found it difficult to choose.

POETRY
With February bringing thoughts of love our Poetry Challenge was to write as follows:

"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways."

The famous words written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning have been an inspiration to many (I remember Roger Rabbitt uttering these same words to his beloved Jessica *g*). So what is it we love about someone so much? What are those things about them that bring us so much joy? That make us love them even more? Reflecting upon these words the Literary Ladies "count the ways" in which they love - be it simple, passionate or romantic.

Poetry – First - Tootypup “Memories of Yesterday”

Second – was a tie between

Christina – “How do I Love Thee”

And

Winter Wolf – “Love is Infinite”

Third – Linda “How Do I Love Thee?”

Hon, Mention –Angel of Music (Val.) ”How I Love You”

Beautiful writing Ladies – a very tough decision with voting.

Thank you to everyone who read our work and voted.

Our Continuing Story is as always full of writing from the hearts of a dedicated group of ladies. Non Fiction brought interesting thoughts about how our ladies feel “Fragrance and Memory”. Read our Reviews and decide from there if the film/book is for you.

Comfort and Celebrations gives our ladies the opportunity to share with other members their writing and their poems are often used by the Celebrators when making pages for members. Expressions gives the opportunity to express how we feel about a given topic - come and visit and learn more about the girls in Lit.

Whimsical is always full of special snippets – tales of Fairies, funny things – it is an exciting place to visit.

Our Mini Challenges are always interesting and often stir emotions and special writing – please take a look at what we write as a “Mini Challenge”

We tried a new form of poetry called “The Fib Form” and the results were amazing - http://www.wosib.org/literary/ then click on Mini Challenges on the left hand side of the page.

Please keep up the great work and know that it is appreciated.

Talking about being appreciated brings me to our special new

“Certificate of Appreciation” Award.
