Greetings ladies! Can you believe it is June already?? The year just seems to be passing us by once again. While most of the world is gearing themselves up for summer, us southern hemisphere folk (ie, Australia *g*) are settling beside woodfires and heaters for the onslaught of winter. And while our winters are probably not near so cold as some of our northern hemisphere friends, to us, it is still cold! LOL
Well I hope you all enjoy the selection we have in store for you this month. We invite you to stop by and have a read of the wonderful stories, poetry and challenges, all of which continue to showcase the fantastic display of our ladies talent!
Over the last couple of months Linda and I have introduced some Fun Challenges to keep the creative juices of our ladies flowing. After some thought, this month we decided to make these challenges a part of our mandatory submissions, to try and encourage a little more participation through the list. We changed the name of them to Mini Challenges, and each week Linda and I alternate in sending in a new challenge for the ladies to take part in. And so far the response has been exciting! These Mini Challenges are a lot of fun, and have proved to be a wonderful success in the Garden, prompting so much feedback and participation. It is wonderful. You can read the selection of May's Mini Challenges (as well as previous months) on the Literary website at http://www.wosib.org/literary/ under Mini Challenges, and by clicking on May.
And if you enjoy writing, why don't you come and join us?! There's plenty for you to do here, even if you don't think you are a writer. There is plenty of room for you to cosy on up with the ladies, and the Mini Challenges are a great way to teach us a little more about the art of creative writing whilst enjoying one another's efforts. Please feel free to stop by the Literary pages and take a look. We'd love to have you!
Please don't forget to stop by and read about our Spotlight Author of the Month..just who could she be this month?*s*

With May marking WOSIB's 7th anniversary, the theme was to write a celebration of friendships made here, or how much a particular someone may have touched you/what they mean to you in EXACTLY SEVEN LINES or STANZAS. Either way, it had to be seven.
The following words (with the focus being on such) must be included:
blessed OR blessing, luck OR lucky, content OR contentment, friend OR friendship
Congratulations to all our winners. Sadly we only had five submissions this month so those who did not place still got an honourable mention. A special thank you to all who took the time to read the poems and cast your votes.

Challenge Nook
Reported by Linda
Thank you to all who submitted to Challenge this month - it was great and I am so pleased with the activity in the Literary Garden - well done Ladies.
There are so many nooks and different ways of expressing ourselves - please consider the Challenge Nook, it can be fun and not difficult and everyone loves to read your submissions.
The Challenge for the coming month is listed on the Themes page - have a try at it and I shall look forward to reading them.
Remember they are submitted to me using the link provided on the Themes page under Challenge Nook and not through the group. It is the "mini challenges" that are submitted through the group and are bringing such fun
Love and hugs,
Linda

Well the clock just keeps on ticking and, the year has reached the half way mark; it hardly seems possible, but it's true! During the month of May, the Ladies in the House shared memories of a favorite vacation. I invite you to flutter on over to the Literary Garden and the Non-Fiction Nook found within, where we have some precious memories on display.
During the Month of June, our Ladies will be searching their souls for the one moment in time, which defined the beautiful people we are today. I am looking forward to this look within, as our Sisters share of how they got to where they are today. I invite you to join us in our mission of self exploration, by signing up for the Literary Garden. Flutter on by; the water is fine, the Ladies inviting and hey, we'll be leaving a light on for you! In His Word-With His Love,
Kesia aka Nasty Angel

Comfort & Celebrations Nook
Reported by Joanne
Hello! I'm Joanne, in charge of the Celebrations and Comfort Nook. In the section members are invited to contribute poems or very short stories celebrating happy events, such as birthdays, weddings, engagements, births of children and/or grandchildren and the like. Members also write poems for support and comfort, such as in sympathy of loved ones and of pets, illnesses and stressing and/or difficult situatons. Now that summer is on its way in the Northern Hemisphere, school is over or almost, all thoughts are on vacations, picnics, sports and other favorite summer activities. In the Southern Hemisphere, thoughts are turned towards stying indoors and enjoying family life and keeping warm, and preparing for winter activities and fun.
