Greeting to All My WOSIB Sisters!
Wow, we are having a very hot summer in Texas. It's typical though, Texas summers are hot ones. I know many are out and busy with vacations and children out of school. We seem to slow down alot in our summer months.
We're still working diligently to get WOSIB membership records in order. It has taken alot longer than I anticipated. Many of you are hearing from me for one reason or another concerning your membership. I don't get many replies. If you do receive email from me about your membership and information, it is me. I'm currently on the last leg of getting records in order and that is going through our webring. This is almost complete.
From time to time, I am looking for staff members. We don't have a great turnover of staff but there are times we do. Our WOSIB staff consists of three levels. We have garden leaders and/or co-leaders, assistant heads of gardens and garden assistants. Our Garden heads or co-heads are in charge, they run the garden and make sure it continues to run smoothly and delegate tasks. Our assistant heads are their right hand women. They are completely capable of taking over and running a garden if the head is unable to and do alot to help the garden heads by running teams and such. Garden assistants are ladies who assist the garden heads and assistant heads with the smaller tasks.
WOSIB staff should know certain basic things and preferably have had some experience in running a garden/committee at some point and time. They must be able to devote time to the garden and not mind that they see a volume of email. We give our staff their own WOSIB email address for that purpose.
1. First and foremost they must have good people skills and be able to get along with everyone and be able to diffuse any situation that develops that causes problems among members.
2. They must be able to edit a web site and rebuild one if necessary. This does not mean they have to know HTML coding. If you use an editor to do pages, such as Front Page, First Page, Coffee Cup or something to that effect, it is fine for working on Garden sites. Our WOSIB garden sites can be Front Page enabled.
3. They must know how to run a Garden Yahoogroup to include adding and removing members, setting moderation if necessary and all that running a Yahoogroup entails.
4. They must have a little graphic skill in order to add names to member tags or make awards and cards for the Garden.
If you possess all these skills, I would be interested in hearing from you. An email letting me know about your online experience with running committees and the above skills. It is good to have back-up when we have an open staff position. If you can do these things and are interested in being on staff at some point, please email me at becca@wosib.org. We look for new ladies so as not to wear down our current staff members and overload them and we enjoy fresh faces and ideas.
Ladies, have a super summer and see you in August!
Hugs,
Becca - WOSIB Leader
