Literary Garden

The Literary Garden would like to take this opportunity to wish all members a Happy New Year and all the best for 2008. We trust your Christmas was an enjoyable one and you didn’t eat too much. *g*

As with most of the other Gardens, Literary was closed for the month of December whilst members took on something that resembled a real life beyond cyberspace. *g* Which was probably just as well since it is such a hectic time for us all.

In all, things were rather quiet here last month though some of us undertook a few “Word of the Day” challenges, in which I send through a word (to learn) each day and the members can write something using that word within context. Some interesting results.

There are no Fiction or Poetry to read and vote on this month, but rest assured members are working on writing up a storm to keep you engaged next month! So stay tuned.

On behalf of the Literary girls, I’d just like to wish you all the best for the coming year.

In the meantime, here are a few words from one of our Literary Staff Members – a sweet and valued member of our Garden – Joanne, who heads up the Comfort & Celebrations Nook.

Happy New Year! I'm Joanne and in charge of the Celebrations and Comforts Nook. Here members of the Literary Garden create poems or very short stories for the Celebrators Garden to use in their pages for celebrating happy events, such as birthdays, anniversaries, births, engagements and other joyous events. They also write and send peoms of support and comfort for those who are ill or in difficulty as well as sympathy and condolences for the death of a loved one, including pets. This year is special in that it's Leap Year, with the month of February having 29 days instead of the usual 28. The northern hemisphere is in the midst of Winter, in some areas cold and icey, with heavy storms. In other parts Winter is wet and mild, more like an extension of late Autumn. Yet all eyes are turned towards warm and bright Spring with Easter not far behind in just two and a half months. The southern hemisphere is in the process of enjoying a full Summer, with its hot days and warm nights. Wherever you are there is always an occasion to celebrate a happy and blessed season.
