MEMBER OF THE MONTH

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE GARDEN MEMBER OF THE MONTH!!

Staff Member of the Month
Choosing a staff member for this monthly honor is not easy. I know, we say that every single month, and in most cases, its true. But in all honesty, this month is EASY. And we can't give it to just one staff member this month. These two pulled themselves together, joined forces, put past feelings aside, and bonded to bring their garden back to the full glory it deserves. We can say the garden was floundering, members leaving, people not participating, and a general feeling of dissettlement through the whole group. With these two back in the saddle, so to speak, even after all the trouble and turmoil of the past few months, they have not only given the garden a ray of hope, but actually is bringing it back up to the sunshine, right where it belongs. Since this garden is one of the first a new member may see, but also important in what it does, having it back to its rightful spot of glory is a most welcome sight.

Since we believe the success this garden is seeing, even in such early days, is due to BOTH of these ladies, its only right to honor them both. Keisa and Suzanne, had you both not stepped up, agreed that the garden is more important than the things that had come to pass, and gathered together a bewildered garden, the Big Sisters Garden would be no more. We thank you BOTH from the bottom of our hearts for coming back and healing the hurts the garden has felt.

Congrats to you both, Keisa and Suzanne, Head and Assistant Head of the Big Sisters!!

Until next month, love and hugs!

Jeri and Idgie

LITERARY
Literary's member of the month is Marianne.
What is your favorite Literary Garden Nook and why? – Lately, I believe I’ve submitted mostly to Continuing Story and Challenge. I’ve become a regular now at the Continuing Story, because it’s fun, easy, and exciting to see where the story ends! The Challenge is often a real creative challenge and also very fun to do.

What do you like best about being a member of the Garden? – The friendship, the support, and the inspiration. Being a non-native English speaker, this is also a great way for me to maintain my English writing. (*hint hint* I’d like to see more non-native English speakers in the Garden! Most of you are probably better at English than you think!)

Do you believe "the pen is mightier than the sword?" Why? – Yes, because with the pen, we’re able to communicate and even solve problems. The sword can’t do any of that!

If you had the chance to speak on international television and your speech had to be about you, what would you tell the world? – I’m a 36-year-old woman trying to reach out to people through my words and music, and who went through a lot but survived! When you see me, you may not think I’m able to do very much, but just wait and see until you really get to know me! I feel I have so much to offer, if you’re just open to receive and look beyond appearance. Now I’m not only speaking for myself, but for others who have physical or mental challenges. EVERYONE on this Earth has qualities and talents to share, if given the right conditions.

Do you have any pets? - No

When life gets you down, who can make you laugh? - A good joke, or something funny told by a friend.

Do you collect anything? If so, care to share? – I collect angels, mostly angels that sing or play an instrument.

Can you tell us one thing about yourself that we might find surprising? – The doctors thought I would never be able to read and write when I was a toddler. And look at me now!
What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day? – Sit down by my computer, or play the piano.

Who or what inspires you to write? – Everyday people and incidents, and feelings I’m dealing with.
