"Seasons of your World"
June sees the changing of seasons all over the world. While the Northern Hemisphere is preparing for summer, the Southern Hemisphere is falling into the chill of winter. While everyone have a favourite season we love best the theme was to write about the season in your part of the world. For example, Australia is winter - the US should be summer.

Poem 1

Winter's Twilight

Autumn leaves have fallen now
trees are standing bare
Naked in the twilight glow
a stillness everywhere

Days are somewhat shorter
while nights are ever long
And darkness falls much earlier
in winter's silent throng

Still there is much comfort
found almost every year
Watching as the seasons pass
but always finds us here;

Embraced within the quiet warmth
beside the fireplace
The gentle flicker of its flames
reflecting on one's face

Hot chocolate with marshmallows
cupped within my hand
I watch the rain fall softly now
replenishing this dry land;

The gentle warmth and comfort
snuggled in my bed
Curled up with a book to read
before I lay my head.

Outside a bitter mournful wind
slices through the night
Then whispers softly in the chill
of winter's morning light;

But one day we'll awaken
to rich and vibrant blooms
Of springtime's fragrant beauty,
and winter's gone too soon.

Poem 2

A Texas Summer Begins

As Texas Summer Begins the winds die down
and the sun becomes hotter
Giving us nothing but perfect boating and fishing weather.

The Summer of Texas is upon us, we can feel it drifting in
Riding the winds of the South as the birds
come rushing back again.

The Seasons are all around us, changing each
area into something new
Warmer air led by the storms we have in springtime, leaving our
morning grass kissed by the dew.

Texas is my favorite place to be throughout the entire year
The changing season is all around me one I hold so dear.

Feeling the warmth of summer taking over
by the bright blue skies and
The beauty of the sun as it hits the lake
with a summer morning sunrise.

Pushing out the gray clouds of stormy springtime weather
as summer it leaves behind
Holding hands to walk the shoreline in the sun
then lay watching the stars at night is divine.

Shopping for new swimsuits and sunscreen
ready to visit the lake with friends
Taking along the family for a cookout
making memories once again.

Summer begins in Texas with bright blue skies a
nd white fluffy clouds
Hot air you breath in when you walk the beaten trails.

The grass needs water and the the vegetation begins to grow
Before you know it all you need to do is mow.

The water in the lake becomes warmer
as the boats you hear start kicking in
All these things happen when A Texas Summer Begins.

Poem 3

Winter in Australia

It's winter in Australia
And chill is in the air,
The mist gathers on the harbour
And trees are stark and bare.

This is my favourite season,
As I walk beside the river,
Feel the wind upon my face
And see the reeds bend and quiver.

I love the little rosy cheeks
Of children at their play.
Wearing brightly coloured coats and hats
For warmth this winter day.

The salt sea spray upon my face
As I view a sea of pewter grey
I hear the sea birds calling;
I am glad they came my way.

I like to walk in winter rain
And splash in puddles deep,
As I carry my umbrella -
Such memories to keep.

It's winter in Australia
And my kitchen smells so sweet,
With soups, casseroles and homemade bread,
And other lovely things to eat.

Hot chocolate with marshmallow
A good book to read in bed,
A soft and downy pillow
Where I can lay my head.

So with the rolling of the seasons,
Winter is here again,
I love it when the cold wind blows
And we are blessed with rain.

Poem 4

Seasons of Your World

I wait and watch upon my porch
for the Seasons to come my way,
Each year they come and change our views
of what we see each day.

Today I wait for the end of Spring
and I'm dreaming of the Summer sun,
It used to come much warmer than this
But no complaints, I'll take this one.

Spring brought us rain and a bit of snow
and we thought we'd missed the mess,
But then a cold front just appeared
We felt that Spring was just a guest.

For some of us we missed the blooms
of the flowers we'd toiled and turned,
While others relished the cold of cold
Where skiing was all that they yearned.

Within two weeks our Summer will come
and I know I will miss this Spring,
But weather's been so strange this year
It's like it's dancing to a jigger's fling.

Oh Spring I thought you'd stick around
and bring me more colors to see,
But now I know each day is numbered
And on my porch I wait for what will be.

Poem 5

The Joys of Sunlight

In May the rains begin to subside,
Bringing forth a wide array of vegetation,
Flowers bloom bright and gay,
June holds Brides and Grooms,
Rushing to the alter,
Most love gazebos in grand central parks,
With carriage rides and the release of birds,
July is the celebration of freedom,
and the spark of fireworks!
So many colors shoot high up into the sky,
Eveyone stands as the Star Spangled Banner is played,
August rush,
School so soon to be back in session,
Children making good on those last minute games to play,
Splashing in the pool, riding their bikes,
Going on that one last camping trip,
and learning how to fish with dad,
So fast does time fly,
But I am thankful for each and every day,
For no matter if it rains, sleets, snows or is sunny,
It is another day spent upon this earth,
Witnessing the beauty that God has made.

Poem 6

Summer Spell

It's summertime
and the birds are chirping
so sweetly, indeed
as the trees are growing

Smells of barbeque
wafting through the air
awaken my senses

watching softball in the park
as I sit on the benches

A little bumble bee in flight,
explores all around me

I take in the sights
I delight in the smells

I love the senses of summer and it's
lazy-but-that's-ok
spell

Poem 7

Winter Days

Frozen toes
And a chilly nose
You never know which way
The next wind will blow
The sky is grey and clouds are dark
Next doors dog just constantly barks

It rains all day
Then for a change it may hail
With the wind off the near sea
There is always a gail
Time to fire up the heater and stay at home
The perfect day to cuddle up in the warm alone

Poem 8

A Winter's Dawn

A light mist shimmers
Over the country's land
The chill of a crisp winters dawn
As the morning due glistens

The crystal lights flickering
Through the old oak trees
As the dark of night,
Breaks to the morning light

The reflecting colors
Of silver and white
Casting the colors of the rainbow
Over the frosty ice

A beautiful beginning to a new day
As I walk along the fern laced pathway
The gentle smell of burning oak
I see the blue haze from the low laying smoke

Coming from the home chimney
Of the old stone fireplace
I make my way
Back through the winter's rain

Walking up through the garden
As I make my way home again
And feel the warmth of the fires flame
And listen to the dancing rain upon the window pane

I love the chill of a winters morn
The misty colors of the new dawn
The white ice on the meadows lawns
It makes my spirit feel reborn

Poem 9

The So-Called Fun of Summer

It has sprung forth from spring,
ready to scorch the earth.
Burning down on us and bright.
Burning well into the eve.

I feel the heat beating down on my back.
A heavy burden that comes with the summer.
A burden of heat and stickiness that sticks
and clings to your skin.

Play as I might the sun beats me down,
and I soon look for shade.
Itʼs much to hot to have fun this summer,
much to hot.
