To gather strength
For the path I must tread,
I walk in the garden
With thoughts in my head.
Literary words
From a book that I bear,
Remind me of tenderness
Beauty and care.

A voice expressing beauty
through words of Literary
Penned from the emotions
that which the heart doth see
Just as a Garden flourishes
with tender loving care,
So words do bring a kind of strength
when we all have love to share.

The Beauty of Strength in Our Literary Garden

October comes to us with a new challenge
From the Literary Garden at best,
These past 9 months have been real tough
At times our lives have been put to the test.

Through all these months we've worked real hard
but our leaders get a great big hand,
For with their strength of mind and scheduled times
They keepsake our words in such organized beauty.

A beauty of ones inner feelings are saved.
Such true words come together in waves.
Letting all imagination flow to be free.
Each lines takes its own path you see.

As words take writing with strength.
Each line forms its own lengths.
Literary notes of words from the heart.
This garden of writing is a place to start.

A Literary of eight lines she does say
When out in the garden the sun does shine
And all I want is to go out and play
Oh give me strength for I must whine

Fall colors spread their beauty
But I must make Linda's day
So here I've done my duty
Before the skies turn to grey...

A place of beauty
Full of strength

I thought was lost

Week 2

Your Desk Challenge

Tell me about your desk girls – the place where you write, where your computer is, and where you spend lots of time.
Poem or prose – nothing long – just about your special space, the place where you spend time.
I even caught myself out – should be much tidier than it is, but I will write about how it is this morning.

My Desk

It’s early Tuesday morning
And I really must confess
That my desk is far from tidy
It really is quite a mess.

There are all sorts of things here
That really don’t belong,
A coffee cup and hairbrush,
Printed lyrics of a song.

Envelopes and paper,
Some bills that I must pay,
A calendar with reminders
Of the things I must do today.

Photographs of my family,
A necklace and earrings too,
A tube of hand cream and nail file,
Some headache tablets too.

Books of quotes and sayings
CD’s, a map and instruction book
A printer and a scanner,
A recipe I promised to cook.

A telephone to keep in touch
Address book and book of days,
Monitor, mouse and keyboard,
It says much about my ways.

I spend a lot of time here
It is a busy place,
It’s mine and I know where things are
In this my special space.

An Organised Mess, er Desk!

Here beside the window
amidst the cluttered mess
Filled with tuts and printouts
sits my dishevelled desk

It's really quite chaotic
with everything and more
From photos, CDs and knick-knacks
to reminders on the wall!

I even have a calendar
now some 12 months old
Which ended last December
but now settled in its mould

There's pens and a jar of jaffas,
a scanner, some batteries
And not to mention my trademark coke
which always sits by me.

I have my daily dose of Garfield
via calendar
A comic strip for every day
atop of my scanner.

My printer always flashing
of which I have no doubt
As soon as I replace one colour
another's running out.

I've papers in my In trays
of things which I've to do,
Postcards and addresses
and God knows what else too!

A guillotine to trim my photos
or anything I need,
A clock that lets me know the time
of countries overseas.

And then there is the corner
where I'd write out my cards
That's now home to my laptop
should I choose to "multi-task"!

So you see it's quite chaotic
but not disorganised
For I know where most are hiding
right before my eyes.

Here at my desk
Tucked away in the corner
Is where all my thoughts
Become words on paper

It could be tidier
I'm sure of that
But in all of this chaos
My muse is intact

Pencils and pens
Notebooks and paper
My beloved computer
All come together here

This is my happy place
It couldn't be nicer
And in this place
I'll try to become wiser.

Messy small and very well covered
With cards and books, and my creative teddy smothered
A cd here and a pen over there
With the shelf underneath where Malcolm sits and stares
A printer on top always running low on ink
The stationary box, sitting on the brink
Of the top shelf threatening to fall below
Where it would just join the coloured mess, adding to the flow
Of the chaos that lives on my small desk
Where dust bunnies live and all my creative thoughts come to rest

My Simple Desk

It sits in the corner where I can look at it
And yes I can see my mess,
No matter how big or small it is
Just isn't enough I must confess.

I pile my papers in an open spot
So I will know where to find them next,
But when I go back and I look for them
They're found in a place I would least expect.

I try so hard to keep it clean
But I find it an impossible task,
So now you know why I'm behind
And now you do not have to ask.

Week 3

Colour Challenge

Nothing serious and not a compulsion – just an optional thing.
Any form of writing – short or long, poetry, prose, limerick – whatever your little heart desires.
Using a colour of your choice – write something that represents that colour.

Yellow

Yellow is the sunshine
On days when skies are clear
Fluffy little ducklings
Walking without fear.

Bananas growing on the vine
Lemons on the tree
Golden and delicious apples
Picked especially for me.

Fresh eggs collected from the hens
With sunshine yellow yolks
Wheat ripening in the fields
Brings special joy to folks.

Daffodils in springtime
Pure magic to my soul,
Special blossoms in my garden
Making me feel whole.

A candle flame at evening
A rose whose name is “Peace”
Yellow brings to me such joys
I hope will never cease.

What is Blue?

A cloudless sky on a summer's day
A baby's eyes so wide awake
The peaceful waters of the sea -
The colour of tranquillity.

A kingfisher's azure beauty
A bluebell dancing in the breeze
A butterfly on gossamer wings -
The colour of the vibrant spring.

The laughter in my husband's eyes
The uniform he wears each night
Reflections on the stars above -
The colour of my world of love.

A pen with which I use to write
The sheets upon my bed each night
The curtains hanging in my room -
The colour that's my favourite too.

A day old bruise upon the skin
The icy chill of winter's din
The tears with which the heart does see -
The colour of melancholy.

Heartache where one does not see
Shadows metaphorically
Tears I cry that's somehow still
The colour which I sometimes feel.

Reflections of these things and more
A whisper, a sound, a waterfall,
A peace, a beauty, a dream come true,
The world of colour painted blue.

Positive Pink ... The Color of My Life

Pink, the color on a baby's cheeks
the lipstick we'd wear in the sixties,
the blouse I'd wear with my orange shorts,
the color of my favorite dress,
The color that changed directions within a week.

Pink, the color named for Breast Cancer
the lipstick that no longer matches my skin,
the color I wouldn't think of wearing with orange,
the color of my favorite dress ... still
The color that shows how my life has changed.

Pink, a color my new life has come to share in stride
the lipstick I have just given away,
the color I choose to fly on a banner or two
the color of my favorite dress ... to always be
The color I share in honor of what I share with others.

What is Yellow?

A vast expanse of sunflowers
a carpet painted yellow
A dainty little daffodil
dancing in the meadow -
A ripened crop of wheat
harvested in the field
And yet a drought's first colour
when nothing brings to yield.

The humbleness of the bee
as it rests upon a flower
The sweetened scent of pollen
ripened by the hour -
The turning leaves in autumn
glistening in the sun,
The shaded hue of sunset
when the day is done.

Seasoned fruits that grow
mature on the trees
Their mellow taste perfected
their scent upon the breeze -
The sweetened flesh of peaches
and delicate nectarines,
While fields of corn so supersweet
the best I've ever seen.

Yet in the birth of springtime
when colour comes to life
It's the brilliant ray of sunshine
that lights up the once-grey sky -
For yellow is the colour
so radiant in array,
But most of all I see it when
you bring sunshines to my days.

Purple

Purple is my favorite color
I wear it all the time
not only in the clothes I choose
but on the jewelry that I buy
you see purple is the color of my birthstone
Amethyst is its name
and it is said to bring peace and calmness to those who wear it.

Purple can be found many places
It can be seen on a butterfly wing or two
or found in the color of violets
sweet blueberries are purple too
but why they don't call them purpleberries is beyond me.

Plums and popsicles are also colored purple yum yum
It is the color of the flower Iris
and sometimes in the evening sky it will shine through
but all in all I would have to say
that my most favorite purple things can be found
in something that I like to drink and eat
It can be found in peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches
And Grape Nehi soda pop!

Some of My Favorite Things-

*The feisty bluejay that dances and prances atop the clothesline.*
*My Eye of Horus tattoo, a vigilant vision etched in turquoise blue.*
*An endless expanse of Pacific Ocean that colors my heart a wistful blue.*

Our lives have altered and we have been challenged
And we have been equal to the task, in spite of all our fears.

Where is Father Time?

What happened to the ticking of the clock?
Why has it become silent once again?
I've waited quietly for hours inside my days
For time in years to tick away my pain.

The hours pass by ever slowly, like mountains worn down through the ages.
Days drag on endlessly...it's been a thousand years since I've gazed upon your face.
The clock's hands have been frozen on midnight,
Until our hands meet one day, across the other side of Time.
