W.O.S.I.B. AWARDS

Please apply for the category that best suits the content of your web site.

Starting January 25, 2004 WOSIB Judge's Garden will judge the following type sites:

Spanish, German, French, Swedish, Italian, Dutch, Polish.

Guidelines for Submitted sites:

English

(1)Instructional-informational site:
Academic, historical, public service, instructional (not graphics or software - for these sites please see below)

This category applies to web sites that teach, preserve history or literature, or inform the public in some way. Your site should show evidence of a very good (above average) knowledge of HTML: these sites will be judged on the coding as well as the content.

(2)Advanced site:
Linkware graphics site; tutorials for web building, PSP/Photoshop or other software

This category is reserved for non-commercial sites that offer graphics, software or HTML tutorials, software reviews and so on. Your site must show a superior (very advanced) knowledge of web building. Sites in this category will be judged on HTML/XML, scripts and other technical aspects as well as on their content.

It is suggested that you only apply for this award if you have at least 6 months of experience making web pages since others applying for awards in this category may also be creating or maintaining commercial sites.

(3)Personal site:
Personal, family, genealogy, spiritual/religious (e.g. Christianity, Judaism, Wicca), etc.

This category is split into sub-categories to allow for webmasters of differing levels to be judged according to their experience. Please state your level of experience when you apply.

(A) Beginners:
For webmasters with less than six months experience. You may use a page builder to create your site.

Judging will focus mainly on your content.

(B) Intermediate:
For webmasters with about 6 months to 1 year of experience, and an intermediate knowledge of HTML. You may write your own code or use a page builder.

(c) Advanced:
For very experienced webmasters with a superior knowledge of web building. Your site must not use a page builder (this includes FrontPage). Editors may be used if the code is technically correct. The site should state that the code has been produced without a page builder, or show that the code has been validated.

Use of scripts and other advanced tools is a plus. This award is for webmasters whose sites clearly demonstrate that they know what they are doing.

Before you apply for any of our awards, please take a good look around your site. Watch for broken links or difficult navigation, missing graphics, color schemes that make text difficult to read, and so on. If you can correct these things you will be more likely to get an award - or maybe a better award!

You are also not allowed to make changes to your website during the time we are reviewing it. When you submit your site for review by the Judge's Garden your site should be complete and ready to be reviewed. We cannot review a site if changes are being made. This will result in an inaccurate review of your site and you will be disqualified.

We are particularly careful about copyright, and giving credit for content that is not your own. So be sure you have permission to use graphics, text or scripts that someone else created, and give credit where we can find it! Please make sure your site has no credit violations as WOSIB is very credit aware

Please note that after two months time, full comments from Judges (reviews) can not be sent to owners.

Vanaf zaterdag 25 januari, 2006 zullen we beginnen met het beoordelen van websites in het Spaans, Duits, Frans, Zweeds en Italiaans, Noors, Deens, Portugees, Fins, Nederlands, Russisch en Filipijns. Heb alsjeblieft geduld met ons terwijl we met dit nieuwe avontuur beginnen.

Od 25 stycznia 2005 roku bedziemy oceniac strony w jezykach hiszpanskim, niemieckim, francuskim, szwedzkim, francuskim i wloskim, norweskim, dunskim, portugalskim, finskim, polskim, holenderskim, rosyjskim i filipinskim. Prosimy o cierpliwosc zanim zaczniemy nasza przygode.

Judges are not mandated to join "communities". If your site is a part of a "community", please make sure that our judges do not need to go through the process of joining before being able to access your site. If so, your site will be disqualified.

Personal websites only, this means no "Blogs" or "My Space" type accounts of any kind as they are not considered personal web pages and will be disqualified.

** UPDATE **
We will NOT judge single pages within a website. When you apply for an award your entire site will be viewed and considered as a whole.

(this includes sites that require payment for services and/or donations).

Please give us from 1 to 3 weeks to get your award to you. Please do not apply more than once for an award. If you do not receive your award within one month, please feel free to reapply, as long as your sites follows the requirements above.
