STARTING OFF ------------------- 1.) Emailing the WOSIB member that you are completing the page for. Here is an example letter - Dear *****, My name is ***** and I am the WOSIB Page Maker assigned to your request. I have read through your request and I wanted to confirm a few details with you and ask you a few more questions, so we can fully clarify everything you want for your site before I start creating any graphics etc. I see that you wanted an image of a flower, do you have any flower in mind or maybe a site that you have seen a particular flower that you are looking for? If you are not sure, then below is a link for a couple of sites that not only have lovely flowers, they also allow usage for graphic designers to use in creating websites. http://www.morguefile.com/ http://www.photonimages.com/index.asp http://image-cafe.net/gallery/ If you find a image you would like to use, then either send me the link or the picture file with the site that you have taken the image from. Next I would like to confirm the colors that you would like to use. You said you were wanting different shades of blues. Can you please find me an example of which kind of blue you are looking for. Do you have a site that has a blue you admire, if so please send me the link. Also, I am needing to know what kind of layout you are looking for? Again, do you admire a particular layout online? Send me the link and I'll see if I can create a similar one for you.... I will keep in constant contact with you during the course of the request, as your input is very important. Please feel free to email me anytime with any questions or enquiries. Thanks, ******** **@youremail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.) Creating the graphics, starting a new site and uploading. Please stick as close as you can to the request given to you. If you do not agree with something the customer has requested, and you are unsure of what to do, then please email me right away and I will help you as much as I can.... Please remember the site will be for the customer - their tastes will be different from yours. What could look ghastly to you, maybe just what they are looking for! Be as tasteful as you can and please have limits. Simple is beautiful....you don't need to create elaborate sites each and every time... just a basic set with the buttons, banner or a card is enough...... When you open a website for your requestee, keep the name as simple as possible. If they have requested their site name as "Rebecca's Personal Homepage", you can name their site name http://rebeccashome.bravehost.com You will also need to keep all usernames and passwords as you will be sending them on to the customer as well as me at the end of your assignment. Remember to add the webring code to the first page, as well as the approved button. Here are the links for thse 2 sites incase you have misplaced them. Webring - http://www.wosib.org/webring.html Approved Buttons - http://www.wosib.org/approved.html We DO upload and FTP all graphics etc to their site....so please let me know if you are unsure on how to do this....... I recommend an extra folder to be added to the site. In this folder you should have in notepad or word format - the font used, the dropshadow etc. All the page details, usernames and passwords and anything else you think the requestee will need to keep this page up and running. I also think the actual font can be added incase they don't have it in their collection. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.) Finishing off the site. Right, you have created the page, all the graphics are done and all have been uploaded to it's new home. Now you will need to email your requestee and let them know the URL and ask if they like what you have done.....ask them if they have any questions and please answer them as clearly as you can. If you find that you are stuck, contact me right away and I'll help. If they want to change a few details, then please do so....but if you find that it is taking too long or their requests are getting too much, please contact me and we'll work out an arrangement. Let me know of the outcome and the website details. I like to keep them 'incase'. And once everyone is happy, then you are done! =))))
